Description
The specimen shows an hydatid cyst in which there is the typical laminated membrane. The cyst
is attached to the posterior wall of the bladder; part of the bladder and prostate can be seen at the
base of the specimen.
History
This was an incidental finding at autopsy of a man in his 30's who died from head injuries
sustained in a brawl. He had a history of hydatid disease and in addition to this lesion showed a
hydatid cyst 12 cm. in diameter in his liver.
